Payback for Pub Crawl?

Today's Northwestern article makes me wonder who the anonymous complainers were about the alcohol served at Gallery Walk.

During last year's Pub Crawl controversy, more than one undergraduate pointed out to me the hypocrisy of local lights who were complaining about Pub Crawl while promoting other city events where the booze flows freely.

I guess it really doesn't matter who brought this up; what does matters is if dispensing wine, alcohol or beer is legal in this situation. My guess is it must not be.

I agree with 10:51. It really doesn't matter. It's a gallery walk, not a wine walk. Get the permits needed or serve other refreshments.
It's a non-issue.

But since you have not posted for quite awhile and your article infers some inside knowledge, some petty rivalry, a lilliputian revenge tactic; care to share?

But really- who cares? *shrug*

Gallery Walk goes on--without the wino grifters. And if the walk patrons do want alcohol, they can stop in at a downtown establishment for a nightcap. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Miles got to it before I did!

Sure looks like the students are getting their revenge on gallery walkers!

"Sure looks like the students are getting their revenge on gallery walkers!"

Revenge? Aren't many of the artists that participate in the Gallery Walk students? Wouldn't that be like cutting off your nose to spite your face?

If it was meant to be a revenge, I don't think it's really going to have much impact other than to improve the Walk and contribute more patronage to the eating and drinking establishments downtown.

The whole idea of the Gallery Walk is to attract more people to the businesses downtown and have them linger.

If more people linger for a bite to eat and a nightcap, how is that revenge?

I think the whole "revenge" theory is overblown and almost silly actually.

The only problem is that none of the bars downtown sell wine.

And I believe it is state law.

I think Miles is still upset about his sidewalks. He seems to have developed a conspiracy mindset that doesn't suit him well. Poor sole.

"Poor sole."

If need be, I'm sure Miles can afford a new pair of shoes to fix his mindset.

Sounds like Paul Esslinger and friends can't let it go. Anytime someone they don't like brings up something, they find it necessary to speak out and dredge up other, unrelated things. Mental health professionals warn against the kind of behavior those folks are displaying. They're the really poor souls in the sidewalk farce.
