Thank you, Northwestern

I was glad to read Crystal Lindell's follow-up piece on Tom Stephany's relationship with Sawdust Days. I was glad to see a precise explanation of his connection to the event:
He books the bands for the Cajun and Zydeco acts that perform at the Louwisiana Hot Sauce booth, helps recruit the historic recreationist camps and works closely with the group that organizes Sawdust Days.

But the article also raised some questions that should be answered:

1. Does Mr. Stephany receive any compensation for his work in booking bands? If not, the article should say that clearly.

2. If Mr. Stephany has this expertise in booking entertainment, why was he resistant to the idea that his department could book groups into the Leach Amphitheater? Perhaps the whole PMI situation could have been avoided? (Actually this is probably something that could be considered separately, but it is an interesting question.)

3. Does Mr. Stephany do his work for Sawdust Days on "company time" or on his own? Who, anyone, keeps track of this? I doubt very much that he punches a clock.

It may be appropriate for the parks director to help with a major parks user, but then again it may not. If he does this work as part of his regularly scheduled job duties, does he go the extra mile for other groups, too? Are there other city employees, perhaps his secretary, who also do work for Sawdust Days?

Still and all, the article is a step in the right direction toward greater transparency.

Cajun and Zydeco acts that perform at the Louwisiana Hot Sauce booth

this may be historical for Louisiana... but does that fit into the history of Oshkosh???

Saw-Dust days may be a wonderful event for some.. address and curtail the problems FIRST
It's very apparent Mr Stephany doesn't want to address any neighborhood issues.
It should make NO difference WHERE events are held in and about Oshkosh.
It’s about abiding by the law! PLEASE explain WHY it’s okay to Break The Law in public city parks?
Noise, vandalism, public drunkenness, drug use, speeding, traffic and parking problems have all surfaced and resurfaced as problems in areas of the city. They are ALL against the law.
Why should property owners have to pay for vandals, theft,or cater to reactions of the drunks/druggies?
Why should our neighborhoods be forced to cope with the problems caused by ANY event in Oshkosh?
If you want to have a festival or party respect the property, the property owners and respect the parks or facilities we provide for those that can’t afford to pay.
This is our city and we want our parks & neighborhoods protected! We don't want top shut down the fun from any event.
It’s about RESPECT and abiding by city codes, ordinances, and laws.

Mr Stephany... We need a ZERO tolerance Enforcement Team! Maybe more louwisana hot sauce and less beer. Stop the carry ins!
Find a way to control the crowds or lawbreakers or SHUT IT DOWN.
This is our city, our neighborhood, our park, if you can't do the job than get out and let's get a New Parks Manager!

Tom does a conscientious job. He loves the parks and tries to please the public he serves. Our parks are great. Oshkosh summers are busy and exciting.

Peace,
Ole

Next step: expand a little on the story about James Chitwood's candidacy for the 53rd.

Like mentioning the fact that he's, oh, I don't know, the Dean of Students at UWO.

Mr. Olejniczak?

If as you say Tom is doing such a great job... Why do you think he continues to ignore the concerns of citizens he serves?
Don't you think he should address and try to find solutions regarding the problems created with-in the city parks?
